My Band The Spirit(a rock and occasionally swing or jazz band) has been around for as long as I've been playing drums(7 years). We are on a hiatus, though, as our guitarist and saxaphone player have quit. I would like someone to join if they are interested. A guitarist is necessary, but a saxaphone player is not(though wanted).

the spirit it's a pretty name...i have a band named psycho dukes...but we are still thinking at the name....till now we have 5 songs that we made up, they are kinda hard rock-blues type...we don't have any covers because we don't think we have to spend time on other bands and other songs...i am the drummer and unfortunate i don't have a drum yet...so we are playing at the guitar solo guy's house...but in summer I'll get a kit...and i was thinking about gretsch...what do you think?

So, A Gretch is great and all, but it's just good for a little dinky bang-around set. I think if your going to have a successful band, buy the equipment you need. I'm on a heat chambered pearl export right now- Payed 400$ for it, but for the high end sound I get out of it, the price was nothing

Hey peeps. Check out Aqua Vista. They were always being played on the late John Peel sessions back in the nighties. Ended splitting up in 2004. They have now reformed as a 2 piece. Drummer and Guitarist. Playing instrumental Garage Surf music. Very excited I will get to hear them again. Check them out.....!!!!..

Get what ever you can to start with. The set I have would run well over $4,000 to buy new today. There is some decent used stuff around and priced reasonable. The hardware and cymbals are the expensive part of most sets.

I'm not playing right now due to waiting on a guy in Indiana who builds replicas of the late Clarence White's/Marty Stuart's 1954 Fender Telecaster that has the original B-Bender installed in the guitar which raises the tone of the B string when you pull down on the neck of the guitar.
I'm really excited about it and I hope that he'll finish it soon because not having it is causing me to miss gigs! The band that I do play in is called, "Irons In The Fire" and it is a band where we play a lot of original music but we will throw in a Byrds song or two so that I can use the bender. And, since I'm also an Elvis Presley fan, we also sneak an Elvis song in the set.
Since I am an Elvis fan, I've been wanting to attempt to setup a replica blue sparkle Ludwig drum set so that I can play along to my Elvis Presley CDs
